Dr. Restak practices neurology and neuropsychiatry. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as holding subspeciality certification in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry as awarded by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. Dr. Restak has a particular interest in patients in the borderland between psychiatry and neurology. These include forms of temporal lobe epilepsy, behavioral forms of migraine, behavioral varieties of dementia such as can occur in Alzheimer's disease, fronto temporal dementia (FTD), Lewy Body dementia, and others. In addition to private patients, Dr. Restak regularly carries out Independent Neurological and Neuropsychiatric Evaluations and has an active forensic neurology/ neuropsychiatry practice in both civil and criminal matters.
